Swabbie: Crew member who tends to the decks keepin clean, descales those barnacles in dry dock, and keeps the resin thick and reapplied during the journeys. Cooper: A person trained to make wooden casks, barrels, vats, buckets, tubs, troughs and other similar containers from timber staves that are usually heated or steamed to make them pliable. Striker: A native of the Caribbean often from Darien or the Mosquito Coast, or a native from far off places we have traveled, who hunts fish and game for our crew. Cook: Well besides drinkin TOO much of the Rum, cooks the foods, keeps the gally clean and stocked, keeps the fires burning, and makes sure there is plenty of hot coffee or tea on all shifts.
