The Library Freedom Project, established in 2015, is a unique network of values-driven librarian-activists dedicated to fostering 'information democracy.' They challenge the notion of libraries as neutral spaces, instead advocating for their role in ensuring equitable access to information for all. This impactful organization has cultivated a strong community, currently boasting 61 members (49 paid), demonstrating the growing interest in their mission. While their current financial support (estimated at $287-$1840) is relatively modest, it reflects the early stages of their growth since launching their Patreon in April 2023. The Library Freedom Project stands apart by directly addressing the political and social aspects of library work, acting as a powerful voice for change within the library profession and beyond. Their focus on activism and community building makes them a truly unique force in their field.
