@communityactionreliefprojectCommunity Action Relief Project (CARP), launched in April 2020, is a grassroots mutual aid initiative based in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood. Focused on financial redistribution, CARP directly supports community members experiencing homelessness. Their model emphasizes direct action and community-led solutions. Currently boasting 105 members, including 84 paid patrons, CARP has demonstrated remarkable impact, accumulating an estimated $1488 in funding, showcasing the power of collective action. Unlike traditional charities, CARP's unique approach centers on building relationships and empowerment within the community, fostering a horizontal structure that prioritizes the needs and agency of those they serve. Their work represents a tangible effort towards wealth redistribution and community resilience in the face of systemic inequalities. The organization's success is measured not only in financial terms but also by the strengthened bonds and improved well-being within the Kensington community.
