Blackspace
@fundafrofuturismBlackspace, founded in November 2017, is a unique digital makerspace dedicated to fostering creativity and community among Black and Brown youth, whom they refer to as 'Afronauts.' This online platform provides a supportive environment where young people can explore their artistic talents and build their dreams. Their approach centers on Afrofuturism, expressed through arts-based workshops ('WokeShops'), culturally rich events and rituals celebrating African heritage, and the production of creative projects. Currently, Blackspace boasts a community of 57 members, with 30 active paid patrons contributing to its estimated $493 monthly income. Blackspace stands out by directly addressing the needs and aspirations of a specific demographic, offering a safe and inspiring digital space for creative expression and cultural exploration within the photography and broader arts community.
