Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust

The Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust (NEFOC), fiscally sponsored by Soul Fire Farm Institute, Inc., is a unique finance initiative focused on land and food sovereignty for BIPOC communities in the Northeast US (New England and Upstate New York). Launched in December 2019, NEFOC works towards reparative justice by facilitating land access and ownership for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color farmers. Their approach emphasizes collective action and wealth redistribution, addressing historical injustices within the agricultural sector. Currently boasting 75 total members, with 54 paid patrons contributing to an estimated annual income of $532 (with a potential range of $260-$5200), NEFOC demonstrates growing community support for its impactful mission. Unlike typical financial organizations, NEFOC's focus is explicitly on social and environmental justice, creating a powerful and vital community focused on building a more equitable food system.
