The New Territory

The New Territory is an independent, volunteer-run magazine dedicated to chronicling the Lower Midwest—Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. Launched in August 2019, this biannual publication serves as a platform for Midwesterners to share their stories, perspectives, and artistic expressions, creating a vibrant and insightful autobiography of the region. With a focus on nature and culture, The New Territory offers a unique lens into a frequently overlooked part of the United States. The magazine's success is reflected in its growing community; currently boasting 103 members, with 82 supporting the publication financially, generating an estimated $696 in earnings. While still in its early stages, this achievement demonstrates the significant impact and resonance The New Territory has found with its readers. Unlike larger, corporate publications, The New Territory provides a platform specifically for the voices and experiences of the Lower Midwest, offering a valuable and unique contribution to regional storytelling and community building.
