San Francisco Ghost Sign Mapping Project
@sfghostsignsThe San Francisco Ghost Sign Mapping Project is a unique historical research initiative focused on preserving and documenting the city's remaining hand-painted signs, known as "ghost signs." These faded remnants of a bygone era offer a fascinating glimpse into San Francisco's past. The project, which launched in May 2019, has attracted a dedicated community of 39 members, including 24 paid supporters. Through their efforts, they've been able to map and research a significant number of these historic signs, contributing to the preservation of San Francisco's visual heritage. The project's dedication to historical research and its unique focus on ghost signs sets it apart in the photography community.
