Toronto Prisoners' Rights Project

The Toronto Prisoners’ Rights Project (TPRP) is a unique, multiracial grassroots collective working to improve the lives of incarcerated individuals and their families. Founded in May 2021, TPRP comprises former prisoners, loved ones of the incarcerated, activists, and community members. They utilize a blend of direct action, community organizing, and public awareness campaigns to address systemic issues within the prison system. With 86 total members and 63 paid patrons contributing to an estimated annual income of $962 (ranging from $276 to $5382), TPRP demonstrates the power of community-based activism. Their success reflects the vital need for their work and the growing support for their inclusive and impactful approach to prison reform. Unlike typical financial Patreon accounts, TPRP focuses on community building and direct action, providing a distinct and vital platform for change within the prison rights movement.
